A 12 month business development plan for human services organisations

JTS Empower Services is a Brisbane, Queensland advisory firm. We write a business development plan for NDIS providers, aged care providers, health care services and domestic violence services, working with clients across Australia.

The plan sets out how your organisation will grow over the next 12 months, with milestones and measures. Business development planning days start from $3,500 ex GST per day, face to face or by video. Start with a free 30-minute initial consultation.

What is a business development plan

A business development plan sets out how your organisation will grow in a way it can sustain. It looks at the services you offer, who needs them, how people find you and who refers them to you. It then turns what we find into priorities, actions and measures for the next 12 months.

It is a practical plan for your leaders and board to follow. It is not a sales script, and it does not promise results. It gives you a clear path and the measures to check it.

What is included in your business development plan

What you get:

  • A review of your current services: what you offer, who uses each one and where you have capacity to grow
  • A look at demand and at referral and funding pathways: who needs your services, who refers people to you and where funding sits
  • Growth priorities: the few places to put your effort first
  • A pipeline and enquiry approach: how new enquiries are found, answered and followed up
  • A review of how your services are priced
  • A written 12 month business development plan with milestones and measures

How the work runs

We begin with the free 30-minute initial consultation. Then we gather the facts: your services, your own numbers where you share them, and conversations with your leaders. We analyse what we find, test the priorities with your leaders and write the plan.

If your organisation first needs agreed direction, you can start with a strategic planning session. The plan from that day then guides where to grow.

Your 12 month plan

You leave with a plan in plain language that your leaders and board can use. It sets out where to focus, the milestones across the 12 months and how you will know each priority is on track.

Each priority has an owner, a measure and review points, so your board or executive can see progress and adjust. Your board gets a clear view of the options, the effort each one needs and how progress will be measured. Common reasons to plan are a new service line, a change in funding or demand, or growth that has outrun your systems.

What a business development plan costs

Business development planning days start from $3,500 ex GST per day. Business development planning projects are quoted as a fixed fee or by the day, depending on the job.

The number of days, or the fixed fee, depends on the size and scope of your organisation, and is agreed after the free 30-minute initial consultation. The size and complexity of the organisation, the scope of the review, the preparation and the written plan all shape it.

This from price is for business development planning days only. Other advisory work with JTS Empower Services is usually quoted hourly after the free 30-minute initial consultation.

How it is delivered

We deliver the work face to face in Brisbane and across Queensland and Australia, with travel to be agreed. We can also work remotely by video, which suits organisations spread across regional Queensland and other states. We confirm the format with you during the initial consultation.

Questions

What is a business development plan?

A business development plan is a written plan for how an organisation will grow. It covers your services, who needs them, how people find you and refer to you, the priorities to focus on and the milestones and measures for the next 12 months.

What does a business development consultant do?

A business development consultant helps your leaders decide where to grow and how. With us that means reviewing your services and demand, setting growth priorities, shaping how enquiries are found and followed up, and writing the 12 month plan.

How much does a business development consultant cost?

Our business development planning days start from $3,500 ex GST per day. Business development planning projects are quoted as a fixed fee or by the day, depending on the job. The number of days, or the fixed fee, depends on the size and scope of your organisation and is agreed after the free 30-minute initial consultation. Other advisory work with us is usually quoted hourly after that consultation.

Is a business development plan the same as a strategic plan?

No. A strategic plan sets direction and priorities. A business development plan focuses on growing the right services: demand, referrals, funding pathways and enquiries. Many organisations need both, and we can do them one after the other.

How to start

The first step is a free 30-minute initial consultation. You tell us about your organisation and where you want to grow. We talk through the options and agree a practical next step, including the number of days. There is no cost for this conversation.

Send your enquiry through the form on our home page. Please do not include details about the people you support.
